RULES FAQ (old) |
BASIC
RULES 1. The matches will be played on Sunday evenings. The start time is to be 8.00 p.m. 2a. Match format will be arranged as
15 games of singles 3a. On registering, a
team shall produce a list of at least 5 players to be registered for
that team. Any new players will be deemed to have registered once they
have played for that team. 4. Nominated captains and vice captains must be communicated to the results secretary before the completion of the seasons league fixtures. 5. The winning team should insure that the result sheet is with the results secretary by 7.00 p.m. on the Tuesday following the match. This can either be hand delivered or via Facebook. 6. When filling in the score card, both captains must write down their team playing order separately and then jointly fill in the score card legibly and in capitals with each player having a maximum of 2 games. Entered names on the score card may only be re-arranged on agreement of both captains. Both captains (or nominee's) will sign the card at the end of the match. Teams are only required to fill in the first ten games at the start of the night, the rest can be completed after the sixth game. 7. There are two trophies played for in each division. 8. The league points system will be one point per frame and NO points for winning the match. The team that wins the division will have the most points. If two or more teams tie for first place then the team that has won the most frames will be deemed the winner, otherwise a play-off will be held. 9. Referees should be registered players nominated by the captains on match nights. Home teams will referee even numbered frames and away teams will referee odd numbered frames. 10. Control of the frame is completely in the hands of the referee. The only exception to this rule is if the referee can be proven wrong by consulting the rules during the frame. A player has the option to request an alternative referee before the commencement of the frame. 11. Team captains are responsible in the first instance for monitoring behaviour to ensure it is conducive to the principle of fair play. Should a player feel intimidated by an opponents threatening behaviour they should appeal to the referee. If this cannot resolve the matter the penalty will be referral to the committee for consideration and the possibility of forfeiture of team points and/or a ban from the league. If the team are unhappy with this an EGM should be requested to appeal. 12. The League will supply a maximum of seven trophies to each winning team for League competitions. The individual team must pay for any further requirements. Winning teams who wish to receive one team trophy rather than six individual trophies should approach the secretary as soon as possible. 13. At the end of the League season the player with the highest number of League wins within their division will take the 'Player of the Year' trophy for that division. There will be one Player of the Year trophy for women. 14. There will be a small trophy for each player who completes one or more '8 ball clearances' in the league (not competitions). An '8 ball clearance' is defined as if from the break a player legally clears all his/her own 7 balls plus the black ball in one visit. The opposing captain must acknowledge this by signing the back of the score sheet. 15a. All league games must be played by the last scheduled match of the season. Postponed league matches must be played by this time and it is the responsibility of the postponing team to rearrange the match. If this is not completed within the allocated time schedule then the points will be awarded against the team postponing the game. 15b. 5 players or more is considered a team.
17. Teams that do not field a team twice in a season should be automatically dropped from the league, with consideration to be given for re-entry in future seasons. This will be actioned by the committee.
Entry fees are NO
LONGER included in the registration free, from 2019. All normal league rules will apply with the following exceptions; 18. Start times will be decided on and published by the competition secretary. 19. The format for the competitions will be decided by the committee at an AGM, EGM or GM. 20. 23. Individual competition games that are best of 3 or above will toss a coin to decide the order and another toss of a coin if a 'decider' game is required. 24. A player may only play for one team in the same Team Knockout Competition. 25. A Captains cup trophy competition will be run each season. Nominated captains of the season are eligible, or in their absence, the nominated vice captain. These positions must be communicated to the results secretary before the completion of the seasons league fixtures. 26. Team competitions will be made from 6 singles and 3 doubles. The points system will be one point per frame for singles, one point per frame for doubles. This is to avoid a possible draw. 27. Mixed doubles partners are allowed to chat between shots and should be kept very short, basically to allow what shot can be played next. |
